Nada Yoga: Hearing the Cosmic Vibrations

Nada yoga is an ancient Indian metaphysical system. It is equally a philosophical system, a medicine, and a form of yoga. The system’s theoretical and practical aspects are based on the premise that the entire cosmos and all that exists in the cosmos, including human beings, consists of sound vibrations, called nada. This concept holds that it is the sound energy in motion rather than of matter and particles which form the building blocks of the cosmos.

Nada yoga is also a reverential way to approach and respond to sound. In this context, sound [and] music carry a spiritual weight more meaningful, respectively, than what sensory properties normally provide. Sound and music are considered to play a potential medium/intermediary role to achieve a deeper unity with both the outer and inner cosmos.

The Nada yoga system divides music into two categories: internal music, anahata, and external music, ahata. While the external music is conveyed to consciousness via sensory organs in the form of the ears, in which mechanical energy is converted to electrochemical energy and then transformed in the brain to sensations of sound, it is the anahata chakra, which is considered responsible for the reception of the internal music, but not in the way of a normal sensory organ.
The anahata concept refers to one’s own personal sound vibrations, which are thought to be so closely associated with one’s self and the Self that a person can not share their anahata with another human being.
In other words, this inner sound is sacred and once reached will open the practitioner’s chakras, which ultimately will unite the body to the divine/cosmos.
With continued sounds, a focused mind and controlled breath, the individual can, according to nada yoga, “listen in on” their own anahata, their own “inner sound”, which can take up to nine different forms. Such a process of inner awareness and sensitivity leads to increased self-recollectedness and finally to awakening.

To concentrate on this inner sound as a support for meditation is very helpful to tame the mind, and when it has been clearly recognized, used for self-recollectedness in outer life as well. Eventually, it can be experienced as penetrating all matter and indeed vibrates eternally throughout the Creation.

Smoking is Injurious to Health

Smoking is Injurious to Health. Period.

Smoking has been and is a major stigma in today’s world among people of all age groups. Nearly every single person is found surrounded by that air of smoke around him/her. They find themselves attracted to it because it contains nicotine, which is highly addictive.

Why do People Smoke?

  • It is an Addiction:

    Smoking is an addiction

Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances on earth. Some doctors claim it’s more addictive than heroin and cocaine! Not only does it stimulate the brain, but it enters the bloodstream and calms the nerves. It keeps smokers coming back for more.

After smoking for years, the body gets used to the nicotine that flows through the blood. So, people tend to feel the urge for a cigarette that is a source of nicotine which can be provided to the body.

  • Social Integration:

Smoking as a means of social integration

It is a social habit. When others around you are smoking, you practically feel like you should be doing the same. In a way, it’s a bonding activity that makes it easier to talk with others who are smoking. Many people consider themselves “social smokers”, but over time they will begin to smoke cigarettes outside of social events.

  • Experimentation:

As teens, the spirit of adventure and experiments flow deeply especially when something is forbidden. They would love to dare the consequences and feel good with it especially when not caught in the act. This relates to cigarettes too. Usually, parents do not allow their teens to smoke. Therefore, this becomes very attractive. It is exciting to get cigarettes and sneak away to smoke without being caught.

  • To Look Cool:

    Smoking to Look Cool

If their friends or peers smoke, they may feel pressured into doing the same to be accepted. Most of the teenagers think that smoking is ‘cool’ and a fun thing to do. One more reason to it is that if they have been in an environment where smokers have been there, for instance, their parents, they tend to get curious about that. As they grow up and become independent, they try smoking, which eventually leads to addiction.

  • To Feel Relaxed and Stress Buster:

    Smoking to Relax

This happens to mostly adults. They may have a lot of stress and pressures because of economic and personal problems. All these people may smoke to feel relaxed or to give them energy while going through a hard time.

Most of the working people smoke as they think that a puff of nicotine reduces their stress levels and makes them feel relieved. This happens as cigarettes create conditions that help the body to deal with anxiety, depression or stress.

  • They Love It:

    Love for Smoking

Finally, there are people who say they love to smoke. This act gives them pleasure. It just makes them feel good. It makes them feel someone else.

Why Not to Smoke?

We, at Health and Hale, believe that Health is Wealth. Smoking is an act that worsens our health. Various effects are as mentioned:

  • Causes Cancer:

    Smoking causes cancer

Experts agree that tobacco is the single biggest avoidable cause of cancer in the world. But cigarettes causes almost over a quarter (28 percent) of cancer deaths in the UK and nearly one in five cancer cases. And smoking doesn’t only cause cancer. It also causes tens of thousands of deaths each year in the UK from other conditions, including heart and lung problems.

  • Makes Victim of Various Diseases:

Smoking makes you victim of Death

Cigarettes can cause fatal diseases such as pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer.

Every day one thousand Americans quit smoking- By DYING!!

  • Reduces Brain Capacity:

    Smoking reduces brain capacity

Smoking affects the nervous system and reduces the neuron’s capacity of carrying information. It also slows down our reflexes and makes us lazy.

  • Effects Respiratory System:

    Smoking Affects Lungs

When you inhale smoke, you’re taking in substances that can damage your lungs. Over time, your lungs lose their ability to filter harmful chemicals. Coughing can’t clear out the toxins sufficiently, so these toxins get trapped in the lungs. Smokers have a higher risk of respiratory infections, colds, and flu.

  • Oral and Digestive Problem:

    Smoking affects digestive system

Tobacco use can cause gum inflammation (Gingivitis) or infection (Periodontitis). These problems can lead to tooth decay, tooth loss, and bad breath. Smoking also increases the risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, larynx, and oesophagus. Smokers have higher rates of kidney cancer and pancreatic cancer. Even cigar smokers who don’t inhale are at increased risk of mouth cancer.

  • Sexual and Reproductive Problems:

    Smoking affects Reproductive System

Restricted blood flow can affect a man’s ability to get an erection. Both men and women who smoke may have difficulty achieving orgasm and are at higher risk of infertility. Women who smoke may experience menopause at an earlier age than non-smoking women. Smoking increases a woman’s risk of cervical cancer. Smokers experience more complications of pregnancy, including miscarriage, problems with the placenta, and premature delivery.

Then How Can I Stop It?

  1. The Motivation Can Help You:

  • Quitting by age 40 and preferably earlier, avoids nearly all the risks.
  • After quitting within 12 hours carbon dioxide levels decrease and oxygen levels increase.
  • Within 3 months, heart attack risk drops and lung functions improve.
  • Within 1 year, the risk of sudden heart attack is cut in half and within 5 years risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, oesophagus and bladder is halved.

These statistics can be your motivation to quit smoking today!

  1. DELAY, AVOID, REPLACE

Details of the same are as followed:

  • DELAY: An urge to smoke lasts less than five minutes. Every time you feel an urge, find something else to do (preferably something you enjoy), and your urges will come less frequently. This is how you will succeed in deprogramming yourself.
  • AVOID: The idea is to avoid as much as you can. Keep yourself busy in other things and say “NO” if someone offers you a cigarette. Have faith in your will power and in your decision to avoid. Avoid negative thoughts and see your goals.
  • REPLACE: Replace your cigarette packets with something else. Something else that you are fond of (say, chewing gum). Look for other activity that gives you pleasure (Don’t mistake pleasure for happiness). Reward yourself on not smoking a cigarette for a period of time and at last, extend this period for infinite time.

  1. Life’s Vibrant Hues are Way Too Beautiful and Precious to be Distorted by the SMOKE of CIGARETTES!

Ultimately, the choice resides with you. You have to push yourself as no one else will do it for you. Your life is your own responsibility.

We strongly believe that we should Make Choices and Not Wishes!

Conclusion

 Smoking Conclusion

One important thing that we can conclude here is that Cigarettes are Killers that Travels in Packets. Smoking is like paying someone to kill you; they’re rich whereas you’re dead! Tobacco companies kill their best customers. Promise yourself not to be one.

Quit Smoking, not Life!

Accessing Pure Intelligence on the Path of Gnana Yoga

In modern times, the human mind is increasingly seen as a source of torment rather than wonder. Unfortunately, a source of magic has turned into a mess, a miraculous instrument into a misery-manufacturing machine.

How did the mind become a circus? Given that gnana yoga – the path of “knowing” – is considered to be a time-honored path to the divine, what went wrong? Is the mind no longer capable of leading us to our ultimate destination?

All human beings are capable of becoming the sole architects of their inner lives, if they knew how to use the mind. The problem is just that their mind is not taking instructions from them. Imagine a caveman punching a computer keyboard: the result would look like a series of obscenities! That sums up the way most people use their minds.

The Essence of Intellect

A gnana yogi begins by using his intellect, but soon realizes the limitations of this faculty. The function of the intellect is essentially to recycle data gathered from the outside world via the sense organs. In short, the intellect is pure information technology. It is a wonderful instrument, and absolutely vital for our survival. It has contributed immeasurably towards human culture and civilization.

However, the problem today is that the intellect has assumed a disproportionately important role. The essence of the intellect is to divide. So humanity has embarked on a journey of wholesale dissection. We have split everything, including the invisible atom.

We have forgotten that human logic is necessarily limited because it is based on fragmentary and inaccurate information from our sense organs. It is said that when the first European ships went to North America, the native tribes could see people coming towards them, but they could not see the ship. This was simply because they had never seen a ship before. Whether this story is true or apocryphal, it is a fact that if there is no past information about an object in your mind, you cannot even perceive it. It is not religion that tells us this, but modern neuroscience.

Approaching the Infinite

The gnana yogi begins to realize that when it comes to the mystical dimension, the intellect is of no consequence. He sees that however great the volume, the data gathered by the intellect will always remain finite. It is impossible to approach the infinite through the finite. And so, the gnana yogi learns to use the intellect the way a drunkard uses a lamp post – for support rather than illumination. He does not seek a PhD to validate the knowledge he has amassed. Instead, he understands that the intellect is an instrument of analysis, not perception. To perceive, another faculty is required.

At the same time, probably nowhere else in the world has the intellect been used with the devastating precision as it has in India. The Indian subcontinent has seen metaphysical logic at its ultimate. The sophisticated levels of Vedantin philosophizing can leave you dizzy and intoxicated. But gradually, true sadhakas realize all the heady excitement isn’t really getting them anywhere.

Pure Intelligence

Gradually, those on the gnana yoga path learn to access the deepest dimension of human intelligence, which connects them with the very basis of creation. This realm is known as chitta. They realize that if you soak your intellect in chitta – consciousness unsullied by memory – it can grow razor-sharp, turn into a miraculous tool of bliss and liberation, and deliver you effortlessly to the ultimate.
If you look at your body, you realize what an incredibly complex chemical factory it is. There is undeniably a profound intelligence managing this great chemical dance. But do you think you will ever be able to conduct this chemical dance intellectually? You cannot manage a single cell in your body that way!

The phenomenal dance of chemistry and neurons within the human system is conducted by none other than chitta or pure intelligence. And this pure intelligence is not different from what we refer to as God or the Creator. If you operate out of the straitjacket of logic, you just remain a clown in the circus of life. But when you operate from the unbounded dimension of chitta, you become a blissful participant in the life process. The mind is no more a circus. Now, life is nothing short of a dance – a superbly choreographed dance between you and the entire cosmos.

4 Ways: How to Boost Your Self-Confidence

4 Ways: How to Boost Your Self-Confidence

At times we are quite confident of ourselves and at some other point; situations arise that make us feel depressed. This gives us a conclusion that confidence is a mindset. It requires constant nurturing and practice to master.

Agree?

Yeah, so basically the greatest loss is the loss of self-confidence.

Right below we are sharing some of the tips to enhance your confidence. It may be difficult to implement them at first. You need to fake these at first in order to look confident. But gradually you will see a change in yourself!

Ways to enhance your self-confidence:

  1. Change your body language

    Boost Your Confidence: Body Language

A good body language is always admired. It speaks a lot about you. Some of the elements of a nice body language are:

  • Posture: Your pulled up shoulders, your erect standing style, your tough yet calm body is bound to make an impact on the other person. This will make you a lot more confident.

  • Eye Contact: The ability to talk to a person by making contact in their eyes is a symbol of confidence. It also makes you more comfortable while talking.

  • Smile: Man is a social animal and a smile can make him feel more comfortable in your company. It adds to the positive feeling and also gives you a moment to smile (when you haven’t smiled for a long time, it is very bad)!

  • Speak Slowly: Easier said than done! It may seem that you have to only speak slowly and it’s done. But many of us seem so busy that we speak in a hurry and it also gives an impression that we are not confident.

Speaking slowly makes you feel more confident and gives you more time to explain yourself to the other person and also allows you to be a good listener. But make sure that you don’t go to an extreme direction while going for a slow talk.

  1. Think positively and perish negative thoughts

    Boost Your Confidence: Think Positive

We are what we think and we carry forward this thinking. Our behaviours define what we actually think and believe. So, it is quite necessary that you should not negative thinking to develop and make you do negative things. You should replace your thoughts with positive ones.

But how should I do that?

Remember, the subconscious mind?

The change will begin here. Our subconscious mind is the one that drives our emotional thinking. And it is not conscious, which means that we can actually condition our mind. By verbal repetitions like “It’s OK”, “It would be over soon”, “Does it actually matters?”, “I am better than I think” etc.

These would change your thinking process (gradually) and you will begin to see positive change in your life. You will become more confident and would also make others around feel confident!

  1. Set small and achievable goals and conquer them

Boost Your Confidence: Set Small Goals and then go for big ones

A common mistake that we do today is that we seek for the sky in one jump and then when we don’t achieve it we become discouraged, discomforted and demoralised.

But we must realise that we should first set small goals, then achieve them. It will give you the confidence to go for another one. Then you can gradually increase your level of achievable goals and chances are that you will surely be able to achieve them.

And this would eventually help you feel more confident!

  1. Increase your knowledge and wisdom

Boost Your Confidence: Increase Wisdom and Knowldege

If you know a great detail about what you are talking then you will feel more confident yet calmer and mature also. This is shown in the graph above. The misinformed or less knowledgeable persons tend to be highly confident and end up making a mockery of them.

You should first be well aware and then you should speak and test where you lie in the graph. It will make you realise where you stand and what else you need to do and know.

Conclusion

Boost Your Confidence

These 4 points have covered a major portion on increasing your confidence. Clearly, these are just pieces of writings if not applied in your life and hopefully, will become words of wisdom if applied and appreciated in your daily life.

Have wisdom, be confident and live life to its fullest.

Controlling Mind through Meditation

Me and Meditation? Are You Crazy?

When many people hear the word meditation, they think, “That’s not for me!”

Let’s demystify meditation a little. The most basic mistake people make is that they try to meditate, fail, and then say that meditation is difficult. Meditation is not something that you can do.

“What do you mean? Don’t I have to sit cross-legged and cross-eyed?” Thank goodness, no.

You cannot do meditation but you can become meditative. Meditation is a certain quality. It is not a certain act. If you cultivate your body, your mind, your energies and your emotions to a certain level of maturity, meditation will naturally happen. It is just like if you keep the soil fertile, if you give it the necessary manure and water and if the right kind of seed is there, it will grow and bloom into flowers and fruits.

Flowers and fruits will come out of a plant not because you want it, but simply because you created the necessary, conducive atmosphere. Similarly, if you create the necessary atmosphere within yourself, on all the four dimensions of who you are, then meditation will naturally flower within you. It is a certain fragrance that one can enjoy within himself.

Meditation is not about going somewhere, it is a homecoming. It is a most natural state if only you set the right conditions for it.

So what’s the point of meditating anyway? Well, first, if you really want a competitive edge, it is a way to get back in touch with the intrinsic intelligence of your original nature. And the result? Instead of living on the surface, you can go deep into the core of anything you wish to explore.

The mind does not like meditation because if you keep the body still then your mind will also become still. I want you to just observe yourself and see how many unnecessary movements your body makes when you stand, sit or speak. If you look at your life, you will see that more than half the time is taken up in these things that you yourself don’t care for.

If you keep the body still, the mind will slowly start collapsing and the mind knows that it will become enslaved if it allows this. The main aspect of meditation is, right now your mind is the boss and you are the slave. As you meditate and become more meditative, you will become the boss and your mind will become the slave and that is how it should always be. If you don’t know how to keep the mind as a slave, it will put you through all kinds of endless suffering. If you allow the mind to rule, it is a terrible master. But as a slave, the mind is wonderful – it is a miraculous slave.

Anger Management: Effective Ways

Anger Management: 7 Effective Ways to Manage Anger

Anger, commonly defined as one of the most under-rated emotions of a human being, is not at all a bad emotion. It is perfectly normal to be angry. If you don’t ever get angry, then there is seriously a problem!

But anger becomes a problem when it exceeds the limits where you have no control over your senses and are too much aggressive that you lose your thinking capability for a while and go on saying and doing whatever you feel like.

Are you the one who is constantly a victim of this?

Does it harms your relationships, your health and disturbs your mind?

Don’t worry! We are going to help you right now. It’s much easier to control than you think. But the first thing is that you should realise that there is a difference between controlling it and crushing it. And you should control it.

Before we move on, let us look at the answer to a question.

Why are Some People Angrier than Others:

Why Some People Are More Angry than Others

One of the reasons is because of genetic or physiological reasons. They are born irritable and get angry easily.

Other is the culture effect. Many of us are told to express other emotions like depression, sadness etc. but not anger. Hence, we fail how to use it constructively or control it.

Also, some kids develop this habit because of family background. There is a constant disturbance in such families and everyone is affected by that.

How to Control and Channel Your Anger Constructively:

What you are really angry about?

What are you angry about: Anger Management

Ask yourself this question. Many times we fight over petty issues that grow up to big ones. But take a look back and you will realise that you have wasted your time getting angry on something that was not at all important.

Make Relationship Your Priority

Relationship First: Anger Management

If you have hurt just because you said something that day out of anger then probably it is very difficult to get back the original level of relationship back. One moment can break your years of relationship into pieces of ash! You must keep your mind open. It is often said that an angry man opens his mouth and shuts his mind. Don’t let this happen to you.

Use Your Anger in Right Direction

Use Your Anger in Right Direction

The image says it all. Nothing left to explain! 😉

Relax

Relax for Anger Management

To cool down quickly when angry, take deep breathes slowly and use your abdomen to breathe. It would certainly help in calming you down. And repeatedly say the words like “relax”, “cool down”, “easy boy” etc. This is because they help you to give the message to your mind that the situation is still entirely under control.

Take it the other way

Think it the other way: Anger Management

You should think of anger in different terms. It reminds of us the beautiful lines by Ralph Waldo Emerson- “For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” And as far as we know, there is hardly anyone who wants to lose happiness. Be happy, be nice. The anger inside yourself will hurt you more than others. At the end, you should change your mindset and perception about anger.

Focus on solution rather than problems

Focus on Solutions NOT Problems: Anger Management

Instead of wasting your time and energy on pointing out and exaggerating the problem, focus on the solution for it. Don’t let your emotions overpower your intelligence while you are angry.

Forgive

Forgive: Anger Management

Never hold any grudge against someone. Only the weak ones live with grudges; the strong ones forgive and move on. If you hold grudges, then there are chances that you may once become angry. If anyone can make you angry, then that means that they are controlling you and not you yourself. “Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace.”

Conclusion

“Make your anger so expensive that no one can easily afford it and make your happiness that so cheap, that everyone who buys it for free feels happy too.”

Anger Management: Conclusion

Whenever angry think of the consequences that may arise because of your instant reactions to the situation and relationship. Hence, enjoy the life rather than regretting or getting angry over the past experiences or the present situations. You have far more important things to do than to get angry over petty issues 🙂

Benefits of Meditation

What is meditation?

Meditation is relaxation. It is not about concentration, it’s actually about de-concentration. It’s not about focussing one’s thoughts on one thing, but instead on becoming thoughtless.

What are the benefits of meditation?

1. A calm mind

2. Good concentration

3. Better Clarity

4. Improved communication

5. Relaxation and rejuvenation of the mind and body

5 Health benefits of meditation

With meditation, the physiology undergoes a change and every cell in the body is filled with more prana (energy). This results in joy, peace, enthusiasm as the level of prana in the body increases.

On a physical level, meditation:

1. Lowers high blood pressure, lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks

2. Decreases any tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems

3. Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior

4. Improves the immune system

5. Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy.

8 Mental Benefits of Meditation

Meditation brings the brainwave pattern into an alpha state that promotes healing. The mind becomes fresh, delicate and beautiful. It cleanses and nourishes you from within and calms you, whenever you feel overwhelmed, unstable, or emotionally shut down. With regular practice of meditation:

1. Anxiety decreases

2. Emotional stability improves

3. Creativity increases

4. Happiness increases

5. Intuition develops

6. Gain clarity and peace of mind

7. Problems become smaller

8. Meditation sharpens the mind by gaining focus and expands through relaxation

Meditation makes you aware – that your inner attitude determines your happiness.

3 Spiritual benefits of meditation

Meditation doesn’t have a religion and can be practiced by anybody regardless of the faith they follow.

1. Effortless transition from being something to merging with the infinite and recognizing yourself as an inseparable part of the whole cosmos.

2. In a meditative state, you are in a space of vastness, calmness and joy and this is what you emit into the environment, bringing harmony to the Creation/planet.

3. Meditation can bring about a true personal transformation. As you learn more about yourself, you’ll naturally start discovering more about yourself.

Overcome Depression

5 Most Effective Ways to Combat Depression and Anxiety

Way back in our previous article on depression, we looked at some of the signs and symptoms to identify if someone is a victim or not. Today, let us just perish our anxieties and stresses into ashes.

Ready?

Take a closer look at your mind

Overcome Depression: Look Into Your Mind

The most important thing is that you should realise is that depression is nothing more than a mind game!

Understand, reason and challenge! Try to figure out if you are really in depression. Most of the times just because of an incident of our life, we make our mind believe that we are in stress.

And mind you, our subconscious mind is not consciously intelligent. It takes as it is what you supply to it. So, if you believe that you are in depression, then you ARE in depression. And if you refuse your mind that you are not, then you ARE NOT!

You should challenge your mind. And the moment you dare to challenge your mind, challenge your soul and challenge yourself, and then you already have developed the confidence back again to face any anxiety or fear. You have created the power and refused to settle because of your problems. If you can challenge yourself then you can challenge anyone and any problem!

And honestly speaking, if you have got this now then there is absolutely no need to read anything further.

Be Ambitious, set achievable goals and conquer them:

Overcome Depression: Set Goals

Depression can make you feel that you cannot accomplish anything. This can leave you even sadder. You need to bounce back at your life in order to feel confident. The level of confidence that you develop after achieving a feat would make you happier. The feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction by achieving your goals cannot be matched by any other source.

Get adequate sleep

Overcome Depression: Get Adequate Sleep

Too much or too less sleep is dangerous to health. It can also lead to depression. Your normal body functioning changes and your muscles may not get enough rest to cope up with the next day activities. Prevention is always better than cure. Try to sleep at least 6 hours and at max 9 hours.

Daily fitness regime

Overcome Depression: Set Fitness Regime

Get off the couch! Say NO to it. You should make it a habit of engaging in some sort of physical exercises everyday. Even if you don’t find time for exercises, then at least do some walking. Something is better than nothing. It boosts the release of endorphins in the body that make you feel good. You will begin to see a level of new confidence once you regularly engage in exercises.

Get Social: Stay engaged with loved your ones

Overcome Depression: Get Social

A common thing in depression is that a person wants to stay away from others and live in solitude. This is exactly which you should not be doing. This would fill your mind with unwanted talks and you will lose your confidence faster! You will begin to lose hope from the world, the humanity.

The best thing is that you should seek to engage with your loved ones. Your loved ones are the ones that care about you. They can understand you more easily and can help you feel better. This would make you feel elated and more confident.

However, getting social doesn’t mean that you should spend time on social media. You should meet in person. No social media can replace the real person-to-person meeting.

Final Word

We hope that you have learnt something about how to combat depression and anxiety. There is nothing further on this except a small request:

Don’t just read these points, implement them as well. You will surely begin to notice changes. And if any other individual is in depression, do suggest them the above points.

Let us all be united to fight depression. United we stand, divided we fall.

Combating Depression and Anxiety

Today, many people across the globe suffer from depression. There can be many approaches for overcoming depression. One of them is enhancing your energies by purifying the fundamental elements that make up the body. The body, the very earth, the universe, and the cosmos, all are just a play of five elements. The body’s composition is such that most of it is water. Then there is earth, air, fire, and the rest is akash or ethereal space.

How these five elements behave within you determines just about everything in your life. Using this aspect it is possible to enhance the quality of existence. This allows greater control over the physiological and psychological processes.
The elements can be cleansed to allow a stress free and blissful life.

Tips to Cleanse the Five Elements

Water

Among the five elements, water has the greatest significance because a major percentage of the body is water. You need to take sufficient care of the water that you consume – not just in terms of its physical purity, it being bacteria-free and so on, but in terms of how you keep the water and how you approach it. There is substantial scientific evidence today that a thought, an emotion, a touch can change the molecular structure of water and greatly alter the way water behaves within your system.

Water has a great sense of memory. Everything that happens around a body of water is in some way stored in the water molecules. You could call it a fluid computer. You are not dealing with a commodity – you are dealing with life-making material. Water is life. It is important how you treat it before it enters your system.

You can keep the water in a metal container, preferably made of copper or an alloy of copper, wash the container every day with an organic substance, and keep the water in a place where it is not touched by other smells and substances – there is sufficient space around it. If you do this, and you approach it by holding the vessel in your hands with a sense of gratitude and reverence because it is life-making material, and then consume it, you will see it will do wonders within your system. Healthfulness and equanimity will be a natural consequence.

Earth

The earth that you walk upon has a sense of intelligence and memory. Even if you live in a concrete jungle, it is important to keep in touch with the earth upon which you live. Create ways for yourself to somehow remain in touch with it. If your bare hands and bare feet – particularly the palms and soles – come in touch with the earth on a daily basis, it will harmonize the physiological process in your system.

Try to spend at least a few minutes in the garden, barefooted, touching plants or trees, because the earth is the basis of life. All life – yours and that of every other creature – has come from this earth. Stay in touch with it and harmonize your system.

Air

Though air represents only a small percentage of your body’s elemental composition, it is the most dynamic element in terms of the transaction that happens on a minute-to-minute basis. It is well-known that what kind of air you breathe is important, but how you breathe and how consciously you do so is equally important.

If you are in pure air, it is important to bring the breath to a dynamic state with some activity.

Especially for those of you who live in large cities, it may not always be in your hands what kind of air you breathe, so it is good that at least for a few minutes every day, you take a walk in the park, along the lake or the river, whatever is available to you. If you have children, it is important that at least once a month, you take them out far enough from the city, where nature is in a reasonably pure state, and they can climb a small hill, walk in a forest, or swim in a river, to be in touch with nature and do something where the breath is dynamic.

This is not just for aerobic exercise but because there is a constant exchange of air from within and without. The very intelligence in the body will make sure that when it senses the air is pure and alive, the way the body breathes will be different. With this exchange of air, cleansing will happen within the system. If you are in pure air, it is important to bring the breath to a dynamic state with some activity. You do not have to do too vigorous an activity – just enough to breathe slightly deeper than normal for a period of time. Especially for growing children, this is very important because it greatly enhances the body’s integrity and strength.

Fire

Fire accounts for another part of your elemental makeup. What kind of fire burns within you? Is it the fire of greed, hatred, anger, resentment, lust, love, or compassion? If you cleanse the element of fire, once again your physical and mental wellbeing will be well-taken care of. You become an equanimous and exuberant being. A simple process you can do to cleanse the fire within you is get some sunlight every day. Though we have contaminated every other element, fortunately, sunlight cannot be contaminated – it has remained pure. Make best use of that.

If you wish to, you can light a fire with an organic substance like straw or firewood, without any oil, and stand facing the fire with open hands and open eyes for three minutes. Then stand with your back to it, exposing your spine for three minutes. This  exercise cleanses your aura and brings about a new sense of resurgence in the system. It rekindles and reconnects the fire within with the fire outside. This is the basis of all fire-based rituals of the East.

If having a fire is not practical for you, at least light a lamp with vegetable oil and be around this lamp. First, sit facing the lamp, then turn around and sit so that the fire element within you gets rekindled.

Akash

The fifth and most expansive dimension of the elemental composition is akash or etherial space. Akash has a certain intelligence. The nature, quality, and power of your life is essentially determined by how much access you have to the akashic intelligence. There is only a limited amount of water, air, earth, and fire, but the akashic dimension is limitless. If your access to it expands, both your perception and intelligence will grow.

One simple process you can do to find more access to the akashic intelligence is, after sunrise, before the sun crosses a 30° angle, look up at the sky and bow down to akash for holding you and this planet in place. After the sun crosses 30°, sometime during the day, look up and bow down again. Within 40 minutes after sunset, look up at the sky and once again bow down to the etheric space around us that is holding everything in place.

If you get akash to co-operate with your life energies, life will happen in magical ways. An intelligence that you have never thought possible will become yours.

All the best for the journey called life. Your journey be blissful, joyful and peaceful.
